PSP 2 to have 3G and Touchscreen

It was had been rumoured that the PSP 2 had 3g capabilities but now it seems that those rumours have been confirmed. The 'always on' 3G connection will allow gamers to download content such as movies and play online games, however, even though the PSP will have a 3G connection similar to the ones used in mobile phones it will not be able to make calls.

The PSP 2 will also have OLED touchscreen and a a new processor for powering the high resolution graphics.

Square Enix Producer Excited for PSP 2

The PSP 2, if the rumours are true, have been impressing developers and publishers alike. In an interview with VG247, Square Enix producer Takamasa Shiba admitted that he was interested in the device.

In the interview he said, "There are a lot of things I'm excited for the PSP 2, but I'm more interested in hardware specifics rather than a unique feature."

Hardware specifics? It seems like the rumours are true. The PSP 2 is going to be a powerful device. I'm sure it can be expected that a Square title will make its way to the PSP 2 in its lifetime.

The PSP 2 is expected to launch around the Christmas.

PSP 2 to be officially announced 27th of January

Yes! The day that we have been finally waiting for has come. The PSP 2 is going to be revealed to us. As reported by the website CNET the PSP 2 will be revealed at a press event in Tokyo on January the 27th.

Publishers were already aware of Sony's plans and developers are already slaving away to create some awesome games for it.

At this event we can hopefully get to know what the PSP's official successor will be called and a few of its functions. The PSP 2 is rumoured to have a rear touch panel, 3g connectivity and HD graphics.

PSP 2 (Veta) to come out Fall 2011?

With so many developers coming out and saying that they have tried out the new PSP 2 it seems that the console may be closer to announcement than we think.

The PSP 2 is rumoured to have a rear touch panel, power to match the PS3 and a high definition screen. It is also rumoured to be one inch bigger than the current PSP.

We can probably expect the PSP 2 to be announced this year in maybe February or March, and to be publicly shown off at this year's E3.

According to Kotaku the PSP 2 is set to be released this fall. This would schedule it to arrive not to far away from the launch of the Nintendo 3DS ( Nintendo's next generation handheld) which means there will be stiff competition.

Christmas 2011 is going to be very interesting indeed.

Exclusive! PSP 2 Feature.

It has been rumoured for some time that the PSP 2 (Veta) would have a touch screen and some even said that it would have a touch screen on the back. This now seems to be becoming more of a fact than a rumor.

Sony's North American branch has filed a patent for a 'handheld device with a two finger touch triggered selection'. A touch-sensitive back does sound very interesting and unique as an input method.

But also weird.

Until we get new information and an official word from Sony, this new development will just be a curious (yet innovative) feature will remain as mysterious as the PSP 2 it belongs to.

What do you think? Will this be the feature that will make Sony win the handheld war? Or just another annoying gimmick?

It seems to be that the next in the PlayStation Portable generation is going to look more like the PSPGo than the original PSP. Even if these aren't the official pictures the PSP 2 will probably end up looking something like this.

I hope that is does because that is one smart looking piece of technology, however, maybe its just me but I wish the controls were laid out a bit more like its big brother the PS3 with the analogy lower. Its not a big problem but it would be nice.

The screen size on this thing looks amazing and if the HD rumours are true then we will definitely be looking at some beautiful visuals.

Want a PS2 TV?

Yup, you didn't read wrong, I really mean a PS2 TV.

It seems that Sony has a lot of those PlayStation 2s still knocking about and fitting with the season of being 'green' and recycling everything you can now get your hands on TVs with the PS2 inbuilt in them.

They're not crap TVs either, HD Ready proper LCD TVs. The Playstation 2 was a much beloved console with a host of quality titles. This will definitely appeal to the budget parents who can't afford the still very pricey PS3 and a HD TV.
